We interviewed couples with one UK partner (citizen or settled resident) and one partner from the EU, EEA or Switzerland who would need a visa to settle in the UK, sharing their experiences of the post-Brexit immigration system. The couples we have interviewed were at any stage of the process – considering whether to apply; working on your application; having your visa decision; or in the process of settlement. But we also heard from couples who are unable to apply, had a visa in the UK rejected, or have decided against moving to the UK because of the post-Brexit immigration requirements.
The couples’ participation is helping us to understand the impact of the immigration rules on UK/EU couples after Brexit and contribute to public, policy and legislative debate in this area.
